Treating the seedlings of Actinodaphne pilosa with different light intensity (100%,81%,41%,28% and 5% of full light), the results showed that:(1)All the seedlings died in treatment with 5% of full light, and the seedlings of the other 4 treatments grown quite well with livability of 100%; (2) The light saturation point of Actinodaphne pilosa was quite low and decreased with the strengthening of shading; (3) the level of Seedlings’ variations of the height, ground diameter, leaf area, total biomass, chlorophyll content and AQY were higher in treatment with 81%, 41% and 28% of full light than in that of 5%. Combined with the photosynthetic characteristics, physiological characteristics and natural distribution characteristics, the author holds that Actinodaphne pilosa was neutral tree species which could grow well in the semi-shady condition and showed its adaptability in low light environment.
