Treating the seedlings of Actinodaphne pilosa with different light intensity (100％,81％,41％,28％ and 5％ of full light), the results showed that：（1）All the seedlings died in treatment with 5% of full light, and the seedlings of the other 4 treatments grown quite well with livability of 100%; (2) The light saturation point of Actinodaphne pilosa was quite low and decreased with the strengthening of shading; (3) the level of Seedlings’ variations of the height, ground diameter, leaf area, total biomass, chlorophyll content and AQY were higher in treatment with 81％, 41％ and 28％ of full light than in that of 5%. Combined with the photosynthetic characteristics, physiological characteristics and natural distribution characteristics, the author holds that Actinodaphne pilosa was neutral tree species which could grow well in the semi-shady condition and showed its adaptability in low light environment.
